Known for being one of the earliest bloomers, Muscari naturalize effortlessly in the garden. This special combination includes both the blue and white varieties, which are favourites for adding early spring color. Often referred to as Grape Hyacinths, these delightful flowers offer an abundance of blooms and are incredibly easy to grow. Their short, spike-like clusters appear early in the season, and their grass-like foliage emerges in the fall. Plant them in rock gardens, along borders, under trees, or let them naturalize in short grass for a charming, low-maintenance display. For a fresh spring bouquet, add a few Muscari—besides their sweet fragrance, they provide a perfect accent to your floral arrangements.

Fall Bulb Planting Guide

  • Flower bulbs are a low-maintenance and rewarding way to add colour to your garden.
  • Fall-planted bulbs thrive when exposed to cool soil temperatures. They can be planted anytime from late September into January.
  • These bulbs lie dormant through winter and burst into bloom in the spring and early summer.
  • When you receive your bulbs, be sure to read the planting instructions included with each variety. Planting depth can vary depending on the size and type of the bulb, as well as how tall the mature plant will be.
  • As a general guideline, bulbs should be placed with the pointed end facing up and covered with about 15 cm (6 inches) of soil.
