As a close cousin to the beloved Foxtrot and Foxy Foxtrot varieties, it inherits their charm but brings an extra punch of color. Supported by one of the strongest stems we’ve seen, it holds up beautifully in spring breezes. These peony-like blooms shine in garden beds and containers, and they’re just as impressive indoors as part of a fresh-cut bouquet.

Tulip Planting & Care

(Tulip Red Foxtrot)

  • Tulips are cold-hardy and thrive outdoors through the winter. For optimal results, plant them anytime from October through mid-December. If your bulbs arrive earlier in the season (like September), store them in a cool, dry, and rodent-proof place until the weather cools enough for planting.
  • You can plant tulip bulbs directly into garden beds or outdoor containers.
  • For gardens with dense or clay-heavy soil, improve drainage by mixing in generous amounts of compost and coarse sand or grit.
  • Choose a location that gets full sun or partial/dappled shade.
  • Plant each bulb 15–20 cm deep, ensuring the pointed tip is facing upwards.
  • In containers, space bulbs about 10 cm apart for a full, lush look. In garden beds, you can space them slightly farther apart if desired.
