Crown Princess Margareta (Auswinter)  is a vigorous climbing rose, producing large, many-petalled rosettes in a beautiful apricot-orange. The blooms carry a medium-strong Tea fragrance and are complemented by plentiful, glossy foliage. A graceful and floriferous climber, it’s ideal for covering walls, fences, arches, and pillars. Introduced by David Austin in 1999.

While Crown Princess Margareta is no longer available, we recommend Bring Me Sunshine as an excellent alternative. It offers a similar rich colour and is a particularly healthy variety with excellent disease resistance.

Rose Planting & Care

(David Austin Rose - Crown Princess Margareta)

  • Rehydrate your rose. Unpack the rose quickly after receiving, trim 1/2" off the root tips and canes to keep them fresh.
  • Soak the roots up to the base of the cane for 2 hours - overnight.
  • Choose a site with a minimum of 4 hours of sun per day and dig a hole twice as wide as the root system and as deep as the roots (typically 16" wide x 16" deep)
  • Loosen the soil at the bottom the hole for better root growth then create a small mound in the base of the hole and drape the roots around it.
  • position the bud union (where shoots emerge) at ground level and backfill with the original soil. Lightly firm the soil around the plant.
  • Give the rose a good initial watering after plant and maintain regular watering. Keep the soil moist but not soggy.
