David Austin Rose Nye Bevan (Auspital) is a bare root English shrub rose bred by David Austin that produces soft yellow blooms that often fade to cream with a light-medium myrrh fragrance and repeat flowering throughout the summer. This sun loving variety is hardy in Canadian gardens from zone 5 to 11, and grows to about 100 cm (40 in) tall with glossy foliage that makes it easy to grow and care for. Ideal for borders, beds, containers, and cut flowers, Nye Bevan returns year after year with cheerful blooms that attract pollinators and add soft colour to outdoor spaces.

Planting & Care

Caring for your roses

  • Rehydrate your rose. Unpack the rose quickly after receiving, trim 1/2" off the root tips and canes to keep them fresh.
  • Soak the roots up to the base of the cane for 2 hours - overnight.
  • Choose a site with a minimum of 4 hours of sun per day and dig a hole twice as wide as the root system and as deep as the roots (typically 16" wide x 16" deep)
  • Loosen the soil at the bottom the hole for better root growth then create a small mound in the base of the hole and drape the roots around it.
  • position the bud union (where shoots emerge) at ground level and backfill with the original soil. Lightly firm the soil around the plant.
  • Give the rose a good initial watering after plant and maintain regular watering. Keep the soil moist but not soggy.
