Lichfield Angel (Ausrelate) is a bare root English shrub rose bred by David Austin that produces large, beautifully formed blooms that open from pale peachy-pink buds into neatly cupped cream rosettes. The flowers gradually open into large, domed blooms, with a light musk fragrance and excellent repeat flowering throughout the season. This vigorous, rounded shrub has an attractive, almost thornless habit and reaches approximately 140 cm tall and wide. Perfect for borders, rose hedges, containers, cottage gardens, and cutting, Lichfield Angel brings soft colour, elegant blooms, and a gentle fragrance to Canadian gardens.

Rose Planting & Care

(David Austin Rose - Lichfield Angel)

  • Rehydrate your rose. Unpack the rose quickly after receiving, trim 1/2" off the root tips and canes to keep them fresh.
  • Soak the roots up to the base of the cane for 2 hours - overnight.
  • Choose a site with a minimum of 4 hours of sun per day and dig a hole twice as wide as the root system and as deep as the roots (typically 16" wide x 16" deep)
  • Loosen the soil at the bottom the hole for better root growth then create a small mound in the base of the hole and drape the roots around it.
  • position the bud union (where shoots emerge) at ground level and backfill with the original soil. Lightly firm the soil around the plant.
  • Give the rose a good initial watering after plant and maintain regular watering. Keep the soil moist but not soggy.
