Fritillaria Rubra is a true showstopper, featuring bold orange-red, downward-facing flowers topped with a spiky green crown. A favorite among gardeners for centuries, it’s also a natural deterrent for deer, squirrels, and rabbits. Plant in sunny, well-drained spots—perhaps near shrubs or the back of a perennial border—where its strong musky scent won’t overpower the senses but its dramatic form will still be admired.

Fall Bulb Planting Guide

  • Flower bulbs are a low-maintenance and rewarding way to add colour to your garden.
  • Fall-planted bulbs thrive when exposed to cool soil temperatures. They can be planted anytime from late September into January.
  • These bulbs lie dormant through winter and burst into bloom in the spring and early summer.
  • When you receive your bulbs, be sure to read the planting instructions included with each variety. Planting depth can vary depending on the size and type of the bulb, as well as how tall the mature plant will be.
  • As a general guideline, bulbs should be placed with the pointed end facing up and covered with about 15 cm (6 inches) of soil.
