Perfect for sunny, well-drained spots, these Foxtail Lilies are especially striking when set against evergreens or lining the rear of mixed borders. Their long, architectural stems also make them excellent cut flowers for dramatic indoor arrangements. Ensure success by improving drainage with coarse sand or gravel before planting.

Fall Bulb Planting Guide

  • Flower bulbs are a low-maintenance and rewarding way to add colour to your garden.
  • Fall-planted bulbs thrive when exposed to cool soil temperatures. They can be planted anytime from late September into January.
  • These bulbs lie dormant through winter and burst into bloom in the spring and early summer.
  • When you receive your bulbs, be sure to read the planting instructions included with each variety. Planting depth can vary depending on the size and type of the bulb, as well as how tall the mature plant will be.
  • As a general guideline, bulbs should be placed with the pointed end facing up and covered with about 15 cm (6 inches) of soil.
