With clusters of deep blue, grape-like blossoms and a sweet scent reminiscent of honey and spring fields, Muscari armeniacum is a joy to have in the garden. These hardy, early bloomers produce dense spikes in spring, with grassy foliage emerging in the fall. Easy to grow and wonderfully versatile, they’re great for borders, under trees, rock gardens, or naturalizing through lawns. Their charming blooms also make excellent accents in compact spring floral arrangements.

Fall Bulb Planting Guide

  • Flower bulbs are a low-maintenance and rewarding way to add colour to your garden.
  • Fall-planted bulbs thrive when exposed to cool soil temperatures. They can be planted anytime from late September into January.
  • These bulbs lie dormant through winter and burst into bloom in the spring and early summer.
  • When you receive your bulbs, be sure to read the planting instructions included with each variety. Planting depth can vary depending on the size and type of the bulb, as well as how tall the mature plant will be.
  • As a general guideline, bulbs should be placed with the pointed end facing up and covered with about 15 cm (6 inches) of soil.
