David Austin Rose – The Lady Gardener (Ausbrass) is a bare root English shrub rose bred by David Austin, offering medium, tea-scented blooms and reliable repeat flowering through summer. The flowers are a warm apricot tone, carried on a healthy, bushy plant that reaches about 125 cm (50") tall.

Hardy in zones 5 to 11, this sun loving rose thrives in full sun or partial sun and comes back every year with the right winter protection. Rose Planting & Care

(David Austin Rose - The Lady Gardener)

  • Rehydrate your rose. Unpack the rose quickly after receiving, trim 1/2" off the root tips and canes to keep them fresh.
  • Soak the roots up to the base of the cane for 2 hours - overnight.
  • Choose a site with a minimum of 4 hours of sun per day and dig a hole twice as wide as the root system and as deep as the roots (typically 16" wide x 16" deep)
  • Loosen the soil at the bottom the hole for better root growth then create a small mound in the base of the hole and drape the roots around it.
  • position the bud union (where shoots emerge) at ground level and backfill with the original soil. Lightly firm the soil around the plant.
  • Give the rose a good initial watering after plant and maintain regular watering. Keep the soil moist but not soggy.
