The much-loved Dahlia ‘Rhubarb & Custard’ is a striking collarette dahlia prized for its beautiful blend of peach, soft pink, and creamy tones. Its open-centered flower form and layered petals add movement and texture to garden beds, borders, and cut flower arrangements.

Blooming from mid-summer until frost, this variety produces long, sturdy stems and pollinator-friendly flowers. Plants grow to approximately 100 cm (40 inches) tall and perform best in full sun with well-drained soil, making it a favorite for both home gardens and cutting gardens.

Dahlia Planting & Care

(Dahlia Rhubarb Custard)

  • Choose a sunny location that receives at least 6–8 hours of direct sunlight daily for strong growth and abundant blooms.
  • Plant dahlia tubers after the danger of frost has passed and the soil has warmed, as cold, wet soil can cause tubers to rot.
  • Loosen the soil well and dig a hole about 6 inches deep. Place the tuber horizontally with the eye facing up.
  • Cover with soil and water lightly at planting. Avoid heavy watering until new growth appears.
  • Once shoots emerge, water regularly, keeping the soil evenly moist but never waterlogged.
