Dahlia ‘Sarah Raven’ is Sarah Raven’s own favourite anemone-group dahlia, bred for cutting gardens, patio pots, and pollinators. With rich dark ruby and terracotta petals supported by black stems, this easy-grow dahlia produces stunning summer blooms from July to November. Standing at 90 cm, it thrives in moist but well-drained soil in full sun. Its long vase life and high pollen make it perfect for attracting bees. Sold as a tuber clump.

Planting & Care

Dahlia Planting Guide

  • Choose a sunny location that receives at least 6–8 hours of direct sunlight daily for strong growth and abundant blooms.
  • Plant dahlia tubers after the danger of frost has passed and the soil has warmed, as cold, wet soil can cause tubers to rot.
  • Loosen the soil well and dig a hole about 6 inches deep. Place the tuber horizontally with the eye facing up.
  • Cover with soil and water lightly at planting. Avoid heavy watering until new growth appears.
  • Once shoots emerge, water regularly, keeping the soil evenly moist but never waterlogged.
