Gloriosa rothschildiana, also known as the Gloriosa Lily, is a dramatic tropical climbing vine that can reach up to 6 feet, showcasing stunning lily-like flowers in fiery red and yellow. Its bold, curving petals make it a true showstopper in sunny garden beds, trellises, or container displays.

This tropical bulb thrives in organically rich, well-drained soil with medium moisture. While it prefers full sun, it produces the most vibrant blooms with some afternoon shade. After flowering, tubers can be carefully dug up, dried, and stored in a dry medium before the first frost.

  • Choose a location with good sun exposure (generally 6-8 hours of sun per day in the summer).
  • Plant after the last spring frost when soil has warmed up and the roots will thrive.
  • Loosen soil and dig a hole about twice as deep a the plant. 
  • Cover the plant with soil and water well to ensure it gets a good start.
  • Continue to water as needed keeping the soil moist but not waterlogged.
