Arisaema triphyllum, commonly known as Jack-in-the-Pulpit, is a captivating native woodland perennial prized for its distinctive form and shade-loving nature. Emerging in spring, this unusual wildflower features a dramatic hooded spathe in tones of green and purple that shelters a central spike, creating a sculptural focal point beneath trees and along shaded paths. The bold, fleshy stems and divided leaves give the plant an almost tropical look despite its woodland origins.
As the season progresses, the spring flower gives way to a striking cluster of berries that ripen to bright red in autumn, extending its ornamental appeal well beyond bloom time.
