Sanguinaria canadensis, commonly known as bloodroot, is a treasured North American native woodland plant and one of the earliest spring wildflowers to bloom. Its crisp white, star-shaped flowers emerge alongside lush, rounded foliage, offering an important early-season nectar and pollen source for bees and other beneficial insects. The blooms open in sunlight and gently close at night, adding a subtle sense of movement to the spring garden.
Best suited to shaded woodland gardens, native plantings, wildflower areas, and naturalized rock gardens, this clump-forming perennial spreads slowly when left undisturbed.
