A wonderfully fragrant standout, Acidanthera bicolor murielae, is prized for its elegant, star-shaped white flowers marked with a rich burgundy-brown center. Native to Ethiopia and closely related to gladiolus, this unusual flowering bulb sends up tall, graceful spikes with sweetly scented blooms that open gradually from the base upward.

Plant Acidanthera corms in groups for the most dramatic display, placing them along borders, walkways, or near patios where their fragrance can be fully enjoyed. Hardy in zones 7–8, Acidanthera can be overwintered in the ground in mild climates; in cooler regions, lift and store the corms in a frost-free location for replanting in spring.
