Convallaria majalis, better known as Lily of the Valley, is a timeless shade-loving perennial treasured for its sweetly fragrant, bell-shaped white flowers and lush green foliage. Exceptionally hardy and long-lived, it thrives in partial to full shade, even under trees or in difficult garden spots. Blooming in spring, these delicate flowers are prized for cut flower arrangements that fill a room with perfume. Deer resistant and low maintenance, Convallaria majalis spreads gently to form an excellent ground cover. Supplied as planting pips.

Spring Planting Guide

  • Choose a location with good sun exposure (generally 6-8 hours of sun per day in the summer).
  • Plant after the last spring frost when soil has warmed up and the roots will thrive.
  • Loosen soil and dig a hole about twice as deep a the plant. 
  • Cover the plant with soil and water well to ensure it gets a good start.
  • Continue to water as needed keeping the soil moist but not waterlogged.
