With her lush, fully double blooms in soft blush pink, subtly edged in an even paler hue, she brings an air of elegance wherever she grows. Often mistaken for peonies due to their layered, ruffled petals, these double tulips—affectionately known as Peony Tulips—make a dramatic statement both in the garden and in floral arrangements. Some varieties are scented, and all can produce impressive flower heads up to 10 cm (4 inches) wide. They’re especially striking as cut flowers, ideal for creating lush, romantic bouquets at home. Tulip Planting Guide

  • Tulips are cold-hardy and thrive outdoors through the winter. For optimal results, plant them anytime from October through mid-December. If your bulbs arrive earlier in the season (like September), store them in a cool, dry, and rodent-proof place until the weather cools enough for planting.
  • You can plant tulip bulbs directly into garden beds or outdoor containers.
  • For gardens with dense or clay-heavy soil, improve drainage by mixing in generous amounts of compost and coarse sand or grit.
  • Choose a location that gets full sun or partial/dappled shade.
  • Plant each bulb 15–20 cm deep, ensuring the pointed tip is facing upwards.
  • In containers, space bulbs about 10 cm apart for a full, lush look. In garden beds, you can space them slightly farther apart if desired.
