Dannahue (Ausa6b15) is a bare root English shrub rose bred by David Austin that produces medium-sized blooms in warm apricot, complemented by a compact, upright and bushy growth habit. A repeat bloomer with a medium fruity fragrance, its scent has bright notes of lemon, lychee, and fresh apricot. Growing to approximately 3½ feet tall and 4 feet wide, Dannahue is particularly well suited to smaller gardens and urban spaces, thriving in full sun or partial shade. Hardy from zones 5 to 11, this versatile variety is perfect for borders, rose hedges, containers, and planting against walls or fences, bringing colour, fragrance, and character to the garden.

Rose Planting & Care

(David Austin Rose - Dannahue)

  • Rehydrate your rose. Unpack the rose quickly after receiving, trim 1/2" off the root tips and canes to keep them fresh.
  • Soak the roots up to the base of the cane for 2 hours - overnight.
  • Choose a site with a minimum of 4 hours of sun per day and dig a hole twice as wide as the root system and as deep as the roots (typically 16" wide x 16" deep)
  • Loosen the soil at the bottom the hole for better root growth then create a small mound in the base of the hole and drape the roots around it.
  • position the bud union (where shoots emerge) at ground level and backfill with the original soil. Lightly firm the soil around the plant.
  • Give the rose a good initial watering after plant and maintain regular watering. Keep the soil moist but not soggy.
