Tulip Red Dress is a striking coronet-type tulip with a flair for drama. Its curvy, creased petals form elegant, crown-shaped blooms about 6 cm wide, glowing in rich merlot-red tones. This unique tulip adds depth and sophistication to spring displays with its regal silhouette and bold colour.

Tulip Planting & Care

(Tulip Red Dress)

  • Tulips are cold-hardy and thrive outdoors through the winter. For optimal results, plant them anytime from October through mid-December. If your bulbs arrive earlier in the season (like September), store them in a cool, dry, and rodent-proof place until the weather cools enough for planting.
  • You can plant tulip bulbs directly into garden beds or outdoor containers.
  • For gardens with dense or clay-heavy soil, improve drainage by mixing in generous amounts of compost and coarse sand or grit.
  • Choose a location that gets full sun or partial/dappled shade.
  • Plant each bulb 15–20 cm deep, ensuring the pointed tip is facing upwards.
  • In containers, space bulbs about 10 cm apart for a full, lush look. In garden beds, you can space them slightly farther apart if desired.
